The CDC defines a concussion as, “a type of traumatic brain injury,” which may occur with or without a loss of consciousness. In the United States ~300,000 sports related traumatic brain injuries occur per year.
Post Concussion Care
After sustaining a concussion, you may be wondering if you are ready to safely return to your daily activities or sports. At Willow Grove Physical Therapy, we offer comprehensive post-concussion evaluations, which include:
- Sub-maximal Treadmill Testing
- Static and Dynamic Balance Assessments
- Post Exertional Cognitive Evaluations
- Screening for abnormal eye movements, as well as decreased attention and memory, which may be indicative of suboptimal brain function
- High level mobility, agility, coordination, and sport specific measures
